Whether one accepts it or not, in today’s Bollywood child actors are as important as established heroes. Anyone can understand this untold truth by having a glance at the characters children are offered with nowadays. Let’s check out how Zain, the child star of upcoming film ‘Hari Puttar’, shares his opinion on this issue…
Q. You are the lead in Hari Puttar. How do you react to that?
A. I think it’s a great chance that I am offered with because there are many senior actors who are still struggling for their solo appearance. It’s really the grace of god. I am very happy with that and I thank Lucky uncle, Mirchi Movies and all the people associated with the film from the core of my heart for giving me such an opportunity.

Sheikh Amer Hassan, the designer and host of many of those social starry nights, was found dead in his apartment on Saturday morning. The man who loved to have his pictures spread out on the weekend tabloids would never have thought that his last would be the one attached with his obituary.

Other than the fashion shows doing periodic rounds, the biggest newsmaker in the industry was the breakup between two design and/or retail houses.
Perhaps the one industry that has managed to withstand and survive the sociopolitical drama that the country went through in the past year is the fashion industry. The activity within the industry may have suffered a momentary setback due to the imposition of emergency in the country and after Benazir’s assassination, but it bounced right back on track soon after. The fashion shows that were held off were rescheduled and held in both cities - and continue to do so on a somewhat regular basis.

For quite some time now Bollywood has been the biggest movie industry in the world. But only recently did Hollywood turn its attention here. And by the look of the Hollywood transactions so far, it’s certain that the partnership is going to flourish. The Hollywood celebrity couple of Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones recently announced that they are working on a script which will be filmed in India. Zeta-Jones didn’t hesitate to say that she would pack her whole family and set base in India for the shoot. This follows another A-list celebrity couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie who brought their family to Pune for the filming of “A Mighty Heart”.

In the Ice Candy Man, written in the backdrop of 1947’s Partition, Bapsi Sidhwa wrote: “And the gramophones and speakers mounted on tongas and lorries scratchily, endlessly pouring out the melody of Noor Jehan’s popular film song that is now so strangely apt,” Mere bachpan ke sathi mujhe bhool na jana, dekho, dekho hanse na zamana, hanse na zamana. When director Deepa Mehta made the novel into the movie Earth, she chose the same voice from the same 1946 hit Anmol ghari, but a different song: Jawan hai mohabbat, haseen hai zamana.

The stage is being set for a drama of the visual senses as Vogue, the bible of fashion, unfolds its first issue in India against the art deco Umaid Bhawan Palace here Saturday. The scale of the event seems like a Hollywood production.
Paola Ricotti, a creative director, has been brought in from Milan. The talented Sumant Jaikrishnan, a production designer, will work on enhancing an already imposing palace. His brief: use simplicity and style for Vogue’s debut.
And event manager Vandana Mohan will deftly manage the mayhem with her team backstage to bring in guests from Delhi and Mumbai on charter flights.

Starting as a Model
Some models are “discovered” and become an overnight success. These are often the stories you hear about because the press likes to print these. Most often however, models become successful only through hard work and many tedious interviews. Like most careers, it takes years for most models to reach a point where they are making a substantial income.
Options available are:
1. Find a reputable agency to represent you.
2. Find a reputable photographer in the fashion industry to help get you started.
