59th Pakistan Flower Show 2010 in Karachi
A grand event of varying colors and fragrances, 59th Pakistan Flower Show 2010 organized by Horticulture society of Pakistan is being held from March 04th to 07th, 2010 at DHA sea view park(near Macdonald’s) Karachi from 10 am to 10 pm. The show featuring flowers and plants displayed by as many as 10 organizations will be on for four days. The show is an annual feature of the city’s horticultural scene.
The annual floral event was organised by Horticultural Society of Pakistan (HSP) in collaboration with the Defence Housing Authority and Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC). Renowned humor writer Mushtaq Ahmed Khan Yousafi was the chief guest. The exhibits include a large number of indigenous seasonal and perennial floral varieties as well as local and imported plants.
The highlights of this year’s show include a series of public awareness workshops on diverse subjects such as floral arrangements in Ikebana style, growing vegetables, making water features, propagation of cacti, plant transplantation and water conservation.
As previous years, many organizations, notably the Orchid Society of Pakistan, Cactus and Succulent Society of Pakistan, Pakistan Bonsai Society, Amateur Gardeners Club, Ladies Horticulture Society, Ikebana International Karachi Chapter, Ikenobo Study Group, Sojetsu Study Group, Ohara Study Group and Floral Art Society, have set up their stalls.
Alongside, there are a huge number of exhibits from commercial nurseries, displaying plants as well as accessories used in their care, and many public sector organizations.
The floral show will remain open for the general public till Sunday, March 7. So don’t forget to be a part of it.
