Blaming models unjustifiable
Why blame models alone for contractual breaches? When I used to endorse products there were hardly any professional ethics. Either companies mention and bind the models by the contracts and pay them enough compensation so that they do not endorse other products of similar category, or they don’t make a fuss about it.
While signing us up for their products, they actually assume that models themselves would not endorse any other product. Why shouldn’t we when we are not bound by any contract? These firms would deliberately void the contract so that they wouldn’t have to pay the compensation. Professional ethics work both ways.
If models are expected not to endorse two similar products at the same time, companies should also pay models extra money for a certain period of time as a compensation. Besides when I was modeling there was hardly any professionalism on the company’s part either. They would run the advertisement long after the contract would expire. So it has to work both ways.”
