How to decorate your bedroom to make it more comfortable
The bedroom is the heart of your home. Your day starts and ends in your bedroom, which is why you need to make it your very own ‘comfort zone.’ The chosen décor must have balance and harmony, to help relieve stress and unwind after a hectic day at work, school or household chores. Select simple yet practical pieces of furniture that fit your lifestyle and budget. Regardless of the size of your bedroom, it needs to offer the basic amenities you need to make it comfortable and as cozy as possible.
Here are some suggestions to help decorate your bedroom: -
1. The first cardinal rule is DO NOT CLUTTER your bedroom, which is most likely to increase your level of anxiety.
2. Use soft pastel paints for the walls, and white for the ceiling. It helps to maximize the sense of space.
3. Select a bed with a headboard but not a footboard to allow space to flow.
4. Make room for at least one comfortable chair / small sofa or divan with soft cushions. This is ideal for reading or relaxing when you first enter the bedroom.
5. Use a chest of drawers (horizontal drawers stacked one above the other) instead of a tall cupboard for storage space. Get a wall closet or cupboard made inside the bathroom to conserve space in the bedroom.
6. Restrain the use of too many pictures and wall hangings. Keep at least one wall blank to calm the psyche.
7. Venetian blinds and curtains in muted or soft tones help the room to look airy.
8. A low medium size dresser is good with a long mirror rather than a heavy one, to maximize space.
9. Keep a bright lamp for reading but refrain from using too many bright lights in the room for a soothing effect.
10. If you watch television in the bedroom, use the computer and like listening to music, use an entertainment center that will fit snugly in one corner to accommodate all three, instead of separate stands occupying available space in the room.
11.Liven up the bedroom with cheerful prints for the quilt and bedspread if you have sober furniture but leave the bed sheets neutral (one color).
Remember beauty lies in simplicity, and simplicity is the essence of comfort.
