Lux Style Awards 2004 : Sonu and Priyanka steal the thunder at Lollywood’s Oscars!
It was a night to remember for fans of icons from Bollywood and Lollywood.
Playing host to them and the stars were the organizers of the Lux Style Awards 2004 at Dubai’s lavishly extravagant Novotel Hotel, and Bollywood stars, including Sonu Nigam and Priyanka Chopra, did not disappoint.
Playback singer-cum actor Sonu Nigam carried the night so well that his fans were not fully satiated.
Sighs of, “I wish he had stayed on longer,” could be heard from many in the audience.
Bollywood Actress Priyanka Chopra was also a hit with the audience, towering head and shoulders above the rest as far as item numbers were concerned.
On Thursday night, stars, fashion designers and television icons of Pakistan and India overran the hotel lobby.
If it was film actress Meera in her snug polka dot top and photographer Khawar Riaz from Pakistan, there was a handsome Sonu and a fancily dressed Priyanka to give them a run for their money.
As model ZQ laughingly remarked: “It’s just so wonderful to see everyone together in one place.”
Designer of Sublime, Sara Shahid, said that if nothing else, the Lux Style Awards had provided her with the opportunity to meet many fashion personalities she had previously only heard of.
The results of the awards ended up creating quite a stir with more than a few shockers. The most surprising award was probably photographer Usman Saeed receiving the Best Fashion Photographer award, instead of the firm favourites Rizwan Baig of Deevees or Ather Shahzad.
There were gasps of exclamations too when Karma was declared the Best Women’s Wear Designer. Nabila Maqsood was awarded the Best Hair and Makeup award. The Best Menswear designer award went to Deepak Perwani for the second time in a row, while the Best Bridal Wear designer award went to Faeza Samee.
There were several other shocking results, notably the Viewer’s Choice Best Television Actress and Best Television Actor awards, which went to Aamina Haq and Humauyun Saeed respectively.
In all there were five segments to the show, each an improvement on the other as far as the audience was concerned.
