Debutante actress, Kalki Koechlin plays the new age Chandramukhi aka Chanda in Anurag Kashyap’s Dev D, a modern take on the classic Devdas. Her Chanda defies all conventions in her revamped avatar.
“She is not the quintessential Bollywood nautch girl but a young girl from Delhi who gets into prostitution. I must confess it was very challenging and interesting for me to play such a character and get into her emotions. The film shows what influences such young girls to take the wrong plunge,” Kalki reveals.
Kalki had been dabbling in theatre ...

She came into Anurag Kashyap’s film to play one of the female leads. Now the French girl is the leading lady in his life. Meet 25-year-old Kalki Koechlin, who plays Chandramukhi aka Chanda in Dev D, the modern-day, sexed-up version of Devdas.
Born to French parents based in Bangalore, Kalki is in a relationship with the film’s director, Anurag Kashyap, and does not believe in keeping it under wraps. “We’re seeing each other and are very happy.

Sudhir Mishra is trying to make his political adaptation of Sarat Chandra’s ‘Devdas’ interesting and different in every way.
Chitrangada Singh’s Chadramukhi in the film is a shrewd and sensuous socialite.
The move is titled ‘Aur Devdas’ and has Shiney Ahuja playing the modern-day Devdas with Lara Dutta playing Paro.
The movie is supposed to be a political thriller set in the backdrop of modern day Rajasthan, where Devdas is an aspiring politician while Paro is the member of the opposition party.
Chandramukhi’s character is very complex and interesting.
She says, “I am ‘Chandramukhi’ in ...

Devdas is being remade again — this time, in Pakistan, by producer Nadeem Sha and veteran Pakistani director, Iqbal Kashmiri. Music is by Vajahat Atrye and is arranged by Uttam Singh.
The songs for the film will be sung by Indian singers, including Asha Bhosle, Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, Kavita Krishnamurthy and Alka Yagnik. The film will star Nadeem as Devdas and Reema as Chandramukhi. The role of Paro is yet to be finalized.

Adapted from Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s book and inspired by Bimal Roy’s Dilip Kumar earlier role as ‘Devdas’, the movie is a classic slice of a bygone era.

The film is the tragic love story of Devdas (Shahrukh Khan), Paro (Aishwarya Rai) and Chandramukhi (Madhuri Dixit). All three bold characters who loved intensely and fiercely but whose love remained unfulfilled.
Devdas and Paro are childhood sweethearts who are separated for ten years when Devdas is sent to England to study by his strict disciplinarian father, and the film begins as his family eagerly ...
