Dry, Lifeless Skin: Use a facial scrub

October 7th, 2008

Use a facial scrub once a week. For very dry skin, avoid soap and use a cleansing gel or cream. For the body, use a mild, glycerine soap. Apply sesame seed (til) oil on the body before your bath. Mix honey with egg yolk and a little milk and apply it daily on the face, washing it off with plain water after 20 minutes. At night, apply a good nourishing cream and massage it on the face with a few drops of water. Wipe it off with moist cotton wool. Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before going out in the sun. Til oil actually has sunscreen properties, but it is better to use a sunscreen lotion for proper protection. Aloe Vera is a powerful moisturiser and an anti-oxidant. It helps keep the skin soft and healthy. It is better to use moisturisers and creams containing aloe vera.

Common Beauty Myths

September 25th, 2008

Beauty myths are often no more than old adages that are handed down to each generation. Some of these misconceptions are centuries old and just plain silly. While logic doesn’t seem to play a big factor in beauty myths, they’re still abundant. These common beauty myths are pure fiction and deserve to take their place in the ”beauty myth hall of shame.”

Soap is bad for your skin.

Older formulas contained animal fats and vegetable oils. Newer soaps are formulated to be milder and some contain moisturizers that don’t dry out your skin. Clean skin is better than dirty skin.

Skin: Your Prized Asset

May 25th, 2008

Skin should be your prized asset. A healthy diet, enough sleep, regular exercise and a complete beauty regime are all very important in maintaining good skin. Your skin just like you requires a diet to keep it taut and supple. But this diet needs to be altered to meet the skin’s requirements from time to time. The diet should be adjusted according to the climatic conditions as well as according to your age and hormonal changes. The perfect skin diet consists of good eating habits as well as good skin products, but finding the right products to suit your requirements can often be a costly, hit-and-miss affair. To make skincare simple, the first step is to identify your skin type and then address its needs.

Prepare To Makeup

May 21st, 2008

Worried that your makeup’s looking too patchy or dry? Your skin type may hold the answer to that problem.

There was this new foundation that looked so, so good on your friend. You went out and got yourself the same brand… but it just doesn’t seem to look as good on you. What went wrong? Your skin type, in all probability. It’s the reason why the same makeup looks great on certain people, patchy on some and totally nondescript on others. That’s because the four skin types - normal to dry skin, oily to combination skin, sensitive skin and extra dry and mature skin - all respond to makeup differently. Each skin type needs specific handling both with regard to pre-makeup preparation and skin care to feel and look good.
