Vibrant ceremonial shawls and dyed textiles from Africa have been put up on display at the Mohatta Palace Museum as part of an exhibition, Sand and Silk—Textiles from Africa.
These 30 to 40 textile samples are from the personal collection of John Gillow, who has spent three decades studying textiles. He has also written a number of books on the subject.

A photo exhibition marking the passage of a year since the 2010 floods was launched at Pakistan National of the Arts here on Thursday.
Titled “Reviving Communities Stronger Together”, the exhibition brought up the tragedy, that affected nearly 20 million people, killing over 2,000 and swiping out 1.7 million houses and 12,000 schools. A collection of 50 photographs of the wreckage and rehabilitation work were showcased in the exhibition.

The historic Wazir Khan Mosque of Lahore has come to Islamabad in Kulsoom Aftab’s latest collection.
Being displayed at Nomad Art Gallery, the exhibition focuses on ethnic photography and naqashi on bottles.

Abid Hasan has paid tribute to Faiz in his new poetry-inspired collection, “Noor-e Sehr – a tribute to Faiz”, being displayed at Gallery6 till June 3.
Hasan held his first solo show in 1988 at Indus Gallery, Karachi.
The late Ali Imam declared, in writing, “He [Hasan] is gifted with an inquisitive mind and painterly sensibilities, which nature bestows on few painters.”
