Twelve senior year students from Asian Institute of Fashion Design (AIFD) of Iqra University displayed their collections at Grandeur, Zamzama on Friday, October 28.

Fashion designer Tena Durrani launched her Eid collection on July 20 at Prince Jewelers in Karachi. Featuring 60 pieces, the collection was priced between Rs 9,000 and Rs 80,000.
Durrani has been designing clothes for a long time, but her first official stint came six years ago as a small venture supported by her sister-in-law. Sanam Chaudhri describes her new Spring/Summer 2011 collection as “bright and fun.” She named it Citron, because, in her words, “I have used all citrus fruit colors, like bright orange and lime green.”
Chaudhri considers Citron her “most vibrant collection to date”.
During her pregnancy, the designer found herself constantly inspired by tangy colors. “The colors just spoke to me. My outfits have no embroidery, no embellishments; it is just the colors that speak!”

Madiha Zuberi, a 2009 textile graduate of Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, marked her debut as a professional designer with the launch of her bridal and formal collection. Her first exhibition was held on Saturday, April 9 at her residence in Karachi.
Zuberi’s 50-piece formal line features pure cotton-silk fabric and intricate aari and tilla work. Her 40-piece bridal showcase incorporates banarsi silk fabric, jamawaar, cotton silk net and raw silk. The dresses display engraved doozi work, bringing the traditional gota back in style.
