KIMBERLEY (South Africa), Feb 14: The Pakistan cricket team continued to make friends on their tour of South Africa when they made a surprise visit to the Kimberley Hospital on Thursday morning.
The cricketers, dressed in travel kits, visited the entire hospital and interacted with the patients, particularly with the children in paediatrics ward. This afternoon’s meeting of the ICC Technical Committee has confirmed the request from the South African team to replace the injured Jonty Rhodes with left hand batsman Graeme Smith. In making its decision, the Committee also confirmed that Rhodes would not be eligible to rejoin the squad, even if another player in the South African squad is injured during the tournament.

Scott Styris’ battling 141 failed to prevent New Zealand from being beaten by Sri Lanka in their Pool B World Cup match in Bloemfontein.
The Kiwis were all out for 225 in the 46th over in reply to Sri Lanka’s 50-over total of 272 for seven.
Styris was the last man out when he was caught by Chaminda Vaas off Russel Arnold.

Confusion still surrounds the future of England’s World Cup match against Zimbabwe in Harare.
Earlier reports claimed that the ECB had informed the International Cricket Council in a letter that England would boycott the match on Thursday.

Opening batsman Craig Wishart hit a record 172 not out in his first World Cup match as Zimbabwe beat Namibia on Duckworth/Lewis method.
Zimbabwe totalled 340 for two against the inexperienced Namibian bowlers at Harare Sports Club.
Rain interrupted the Namibian innings at 104 for five after 25.1 overs, just enough for Zimbabwe to be declared winners by 86 runs.
