September 11th, 2008

In Ravi Chopra’s Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai, Tabu shall be playing a naughty lawyer. The acclaimed actress has never played a completely over the top sensuous character before and is excited to play the part in this Hollywood comedy, My Cousin Vinny’s Bollywood remake.

Our source informs, “Ravi Chopra managed to convince Tabu in playing a sexy character for his next, Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai. When she was first offered the part by him she had declined it. But after a lot of deliberation, Chopra managed to get the Namesake starlet going in for the role. The role requires Tabu to expose her body. But since the film is a comedy she won’t be presented in a vulgar manner.”

Umar Sharif Rocked the Zee Cine Awards

August 18th, 2006

Forget the behind-the-scenes drama, the Zee Cine Awards in Dubai last weekend truly rocked. More than anything else, it made a genuine effort to cement the Indo-Pak relations further, which have been on an upswing in the recent times. Simply put, Bollywood and Lollywood were akin to the ambassadors of peace that night.

Hosting a majestic show not in India, not in Pakistan, but in a third country (Dubai, U.A.E.) and assembling the biggies of Bollywood (Big B, Dharmendra, SRK, the Roshans, Preity Zinta, Urmila, Sushmita Sen, Saif Ali Khan, Randhir and Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapur, Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi) and Lollywood (Reema, Resham, Jawed Sheikh, Umar Sharif) was an effort in the right direction and the management of Zee deserves bouquets for it.

Cutting Edge

December 11th, 2005

Laiqa Hasan is not a fairy godmother who can turn an ugly duckling into swan with her magic want but she can turn an average looking girl into a goddess with a touch of her pancake and brush. A magician of the modern world. Fascinated with the way hair is cut and layered Laiqa had been keen to learn the technique since her childhood. And the passion nurtured with the passage of time. Today Laiqa Hasan is a name to reckon with in the field of hair & makeup. She’s the one who gave Sadia Imam a new image, Humaira Arshad a new look, made Jaffrey lose weight and she is also the first female make-up artist from Pakistan to have done the make-up of many Indian stars… From Bombay Vikings to Meera Johnson to Sushmita Sen’s… If this is not success then what is?

Aaghaaz

March 3rd, 2004

This Sunil Shetty vehicle is a remake of a Telugu hit film called Sivaiyya. And that’s probably about the only interesting facet to the whole production…

IT’s three hours of the same old story of love and war centered in the suburbs of Mumbai with Govind (Shetty) and his sister. He’s in love with model turned actress Suman Ranganathan but is forced to marry former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen. Choices, choices. What’s a man to do?

Did ‘Kaante’ enhance Mahesh Manjrekar’s attitude towards acting?

April 24th, 2003

Mahesh Manjrekar was well applauded for his performance in the Sanjay Gupta directed magnum-opus ‘Kaante.’ His comic timing and the brilliant execution of his role made him quite the highlight of the mega-starrer. The question thus arisen is that, has the ‘Kaante’ experience been a catalyst to have encouraged Mahesh to act in the next film he plans to direct? Yes, sources claim that Manjrekar has decided to act in the English version of ‘Astitva’ titled ‘It Rained That Day.’ Mahesh Manjrekar plays the role of Sushmita’s husband originally complied to by Sachin Khedekar. Well, it’s definitely one step forward for the man who has gotten down to acting in a film he plans to direct as well.
